When COVID hit during my second year of college, everyone was sent home overnight. Our college had a tradition where every year, juniors would put together yearbooks and scrapbooks for the graduating seniors. With everyone locked down, that just wasn't happening anymore.
So a few friends and I, over a cup of tea, decided to do something about it. We shipped an MVP for our college's passing batch, and without any real marketing, it took off. People wanted this.
With a lot of time on our hands, I decided to go all in for the next year. I reached out to graduated seniors for help with design, branding, and outreach. A friend who was learning Android development jumped in to build a native app. After months of work, we launched again, this time expanding beyond our college to BITS Goa and others.
BITS Goa loved it so much that their email server banned us because people were signing up faster than we could send OTP emails. I remember staying up till 6am getting OAuth to work. I handled social media, customer support, design, alumni outreach, and the engineering. 2,000+ graduates across 5 colleges, 18,000+ memories shared.
It was magical.
